Last week I talked about yarn subscription boxes and the desire to have enough to make something that I would want to make in the weights and I want, etc. I ordered some yarn from Joann with a coupon and it arrived.
I choose some yarns that I had heard about because not all of them are available in the stores. I purchased several Lion Brand yarns which were on sale for my “mystery” box of yarn. The one I was most excited about is the Coboo, a cotton and bamboo yarn. I choose a bright, cheery orange. It is soft and silky, but not slippery. Then there’s Shawl in a Cake, which seems to be a lighter weight of Homespun and Wrap Star which has several fine strands which you hold together to work with. I made sure that I have enough yardage to make scarves, you know my gateway project, in colors that are fun to work with.
I didn’t see any interesting yarn on sale during Amazon’s Prime Day and a few sites were having sales. I almost bought a couple of the Lion Brand mystery boxes for $9.99 but they sold out before I made up my mind, so since they were sold out, that helped me with my decision. I’m still interested in buying a couple of different yarns and trying them out, but I’m not in any immediate need for yarn at the moment, but when has that ever stopped me from buying yarn.
Stay tuned for the trial run projects…
