Where to Donate

Scarves for Foster Care to Success

There are many organizations which gladly accept handcrafted items. Many national organizations work with local partners

Here are a few organizations that I donate to:

Foster Care to Success
This organization provides support for foster children who have “aged out” of the system. FC2S sends care packages including a red scarf in February. Please check their guidelines and deadlines.

Click for Babies
The period of purple crying, which is part of a baby’s natural development is spotlighted with this organization. Purple hats are collected to bring awareness to this period of a baby’s development which is also a time that leads to a trigger in which some babies are skaken by parents or caregivers out of frustration of the crying. Purple hats are given to babies born in November and December. Check the website for the nearest donation location and donation sites.

Another great organization that I have donated to in the past is Warm Up America. If you are just getting started or want to do something as a group, making some 7×9 sections and sending them off is a good project for a youth organization or craft weekend.

Warm Up America
Donations of 7″ x 9″ sections, finished afghans and accessories are accepted year round for different campaigns. See the website for ways to donate.

If you are in a charitable mood and don’t know where to begin, here’s a list that I’ve compiled from a quick search on Google. Here are a few charities soliciting handcrafted crocheted or knitted items:

If you want to make it, there is probably a charity for it, if not, start one and fill the need.

Let me know if there are any others and I can add them to the list.
